About the red thread

the red thread was started by Lisa Tilse in 2005.

My background in graphic design, my role as a new mum and my love of making collided and the red thread range was born.

An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance.

The red thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.

This ancient Chinese belief resonates for many people, but particularly for me as our little family was formed when we adopted our gorgeous daughter Roxy from China. The red thread wove its magic for us and I'm incredibly blessed to be Roxy's mum.

I’m all about living a creative life and I’m passionate about sharing skills and inspiring creativity in others. Making with our hands and heart is necessary for our wellbeing.

In addition to creating these sewing patterns and kits I also create craft tutorials for my blog We Are Scout, as well as for magazines around the world from time to time.

I began my first blog, also called the red thread, in 2008.

You can now find me at We Are Scout where I share curated content reflecting my keen eye for design and style, my passion for interiors, and love of makers and making, together with design-led contemporary craft and DIY projects.

I hope you enjoy making with the red thread fabric panels and sewing kits. I get so much enjoyment from designing, illustrating and creating them!

Thanks for stopping by!
